In 1875, Mr. Curt Georgi, the founder of the company, starts the production of flavouring essences, flower extracts, essential oils, colours for food and cosmetics in Leipzig, Germany. On extensive trips to the mediterranean region he had made close contacts to producers of essential oils and raw materials for his production. The business is running well due to Curt Georgi’s personal commitment, especially in Italy, Spain and Scandinavia. He also discovers new markets like Russia, Middle East and South-America.
1906, Mr. Curt Georgi deceases and his sons, Herbert Curt Georgi as well as Dr. Robert Curt Georgi take over. Within only a couple of years they manage to double the turnover of the company and start to expand. A larger production plant as well as new offices are built in 1913. One year later, the First World War forces them to brake up all exports and most of their employees are called up to war. Nevertheless they manage to maintain the company.
1916 a subsidiary is established in Switzerland and after the war, 1919/1920 three more locations open in Valencia/Spain, Milano/Italy and Athens/Greece. Curt Georgi now has 4 production sites and more than 50 warehouses all over the world. This turns the company into one of the leading flavour and fragrance houses on the world market at that time.
The Second World War leads to a total collapse of German economy. Also Curt Georgi is deeply affected - all corporate assets are lost, the foreign subsidiaries confiscated.
1949, after the Second World war, Curt Georgi starts from scratch in Boeblingen, West-Germany. Paul-Heinz Landgraf, the son-in-law of Herbert Curt Georgi reorganizes the rebuilding with neverending energy and commercial skills. He manages to reestablish the domestic and export markets.
1968 and 1973 the sons of Paul-Heinz Landgraf, Christoph Dietrich and Andreas Landgraf, join the company. Business grows steadily. In 1984 a new subsidiary in Barcelona/Spain is founded. In 1994 follows a subsidiary in Krakow/Poland, as well as locations in Croatia, Serbia, Hungary and Romania.
1990, the company moves into a new built location in the industrial park of Boeblingen. It now has 11,000 square meter of new designed production facilities for a yearly output of more than 1000 tons of flavours and fragrances.
Today, more than 130 years after the founding of the company, Curt Georgi is one of the most successful and experienced producers of flavours and fragrances in Europe – still independent and private. With more than 30 years of experience in this business, Andreas Landgraf is the head and owner of the family enterprise. In 2006 he is joined by his daughter Melanie Landgraf – the fifth generation to continue in Curt Georgi’s spirit.
